THE GREEN PLAN
Capital Fringe is dedicated to the environment. Please take time to read through our How to be a Green Artist & How to be a Green Audience tips. Help Fringe promote sustainability and preserve the environment, at home or at the theatre!
THE FRINGE GREEN PLAN includes the following initiatives:
+ Fringe Program printed on recycled material (it has been for the last several years, but this year we have that little logo that says so)
+ Recycling bins available at Fort Fringe, Baldacchino and Fringe Venues
+ Reused construction materials (the Baldacchino is made of reused materials)
+ Vintage and used furniture will only be used in our venues
+ Mass transit: all of our venues are located nearby Metro or MetroBus stations, which we highly encourage you to use
+ Paperless documents used in office
+ Artists are encouraged to use recycled paper and consider paper waste in printed materials
+ Energy waste is combatted in Fort Fringe and Fringe Venues: computers and technical equipment (including air conditioning) is not left on standby, and lights are switched OFF.
+ Littering (including cigarette butts) is outlawed at the Baldacchino and all Fringe Venues
+ Supporting local businesses (such as our neighbors,
Marrakesh, Eritrean Community Center & Bus Boys & Poets)
+ Minimized food packaging at the Baldacchino
+ We encourage bicycling and provide a staff bicycle
+ Educating patrons on how to be green
+ Educating artists on how to produce green events
+ Using organic cleaning solutions...kosher salt and a little lemon does wonders!
